Machinery Appraisal Heavy Caterpillar             How to avoid fraud and scam                               HOME

What should make you suspicious with a machine offer that looks like a very good deal?

  • The seller pretends to be a well established company but has just a Yahoo or Gmail E-mail
  • The seller is only providing a mobile telephone number
  • The supplier is not sending a correct Proforma-Invoice (in the EU with a VAT No.)
  • The supplier is pushing you because there are other people interested in the machine
  • The machine is much cheaper than comparable units
  • The seller insists in payment via Western Union
  • The supplier is not giving the serial number

We  have the experience and access to several tools which allow us to obtain information about equipment and companies.  Often contact from an organisation such as ours is sufficient to identify a potential fraud and finally should there still be any doubt we can arrange for a full machine inspection, alternatively a confirmation of presence may be all that is needed for peace of mind.

What should make you suspicious as a seller of equipment?

Especially if the buyer is paying by check or asking for your bank location, address and telephone number. Never accept a check for payment.  Someone who is able to pay for a machine should have a bank account and should be able to transfer money by SWIFT payment.
